cricc was established in 1978, with its predecessors as the science and technology bureau of the ministry of chemical industry and science and technology research institute of the ministry of chemical industry. in 1999, it was transformed into an s&t-based enterprise affiliated with china haohua chemical (group) corporation.
boasting of seven professional research institutes, three wholly-owned companies, 12 joint-stock subsidiaries and five direct research institutes entrusted by government authorities, cricc is mainly engaged in research, development, production, marketing, trade that concern its fine chemicals as well as industrial management.
over the years, cricc has made great achievements to promote s&t progress in the chemical industry and international s&t exchanges and cooperation. it has organized or attended many international academic meetings, chemical exhibitions and other technical exchanges, enjoying a remarkable reputation at home and abroad. in recent years, it has undertaken 30-odd national research projects, out of which five won the national scientific and technological progress award, 19 won at the provincial or ministerial levels scientific and technological progress award, and two were patented. many scientific and technological achievements were accomplished in coating, water treatment chemicals, pesticides, soft science research, and some were commercialized and created remarkable economic and social benefits. after years of development, it has cultivated research and development strength and a relatively solid industrial base that forms its industrial direction by emphasizing coatings, water treatment chemicals, pesticide auxiliaries, petrochemical auxiliaries, and chemical equipment. its coating products, such as architectural coatings, anticorrosive coatings, woodenware coatings and floor coatings, are highly competitive; cw series of water treatment chemicals and application technologies were listed as key promotion programs of national scientific and technological achievements launched by the ministry of science and technology, and over 100 products - in nine categories were applied for water cooling treatment, feed water treatment, reclaimed water treatment and sewage treatment processes in the chemical, petrochemical, power, metallurgical, light and central air-conditioning industries. beijing grand agrochem co., ltd., mainly dealing with r&d and industrializing development of pesticide formulations and auxiliaries, aiming to become a domestic first-class r&d base for pesticide preparation technology and products and a high-tech stock enterprise integrating science, industry and trade in 3 to five years. the chemical equipment institute is devoted to r&d and production of chemical equipment for chemical powder granulation.
cricc has played a significant role in s&t management of the chemical industry. the leading group office of national pesticide r&d south center, the specialist chemicals office of the ministry of science and technology, the productivity promotion center of fine chemicals industry, the review office of s&t awards committee, the fine chemicals committee and biochemical engineering committee of the chemical industry and engineering society of china are subordinate to cricc. additionally, being the chairman unit of national chemical research institutions association, cricc is home to the secretariat of the association. all these organizations have carried out substantial work for national chemical enterprises and public institutions, scientific research and design units, universities and colleges, and produced fruitful results.
