the haohua honghe chemical co, ltd has been applying stricter management of food additives sources in recent years and fulfilling meeting its responsibilities in food quality and safety during the production of food additives. this year especially, haohua honghe, as a pilot company in the crackdown on illegal additives and misuse of additives in sichuan province, has made a great effort to follow the spirit of the law from state council ministries on the illegal addition of food additives and in standardizing the production and use of food additives, and has achieved some success in this. administrators of china’s general administration of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine, the of sichuan provincial food safety office, and provincial and municipal quality and technical supervision bureaus each visited the company to inspect three of its brands that use food additives, and said they were satisfied with the results of the inspection.
haohua honghe chemical co, ltd got its national food chemical production license in 1981 for saleratus and soda ash products and took the lead in developing edible caustic soda in 2005. by now, only it and a qingdao company have an edible caustic soda license. it has produced three types of food additives and has an annual output of 100,000 tons. these products mean higher added value and better benefits than for industrial soda ash and caustic soda and feed-grade saleratus. its products are mainly used in baking powders and as an antacid and are recognized by customers and sell well on both domestic and foreign markets.
in april 2011, after the state council ministries cracked down on illegal food additives, haohua honghe made use of its newspapers, journals, radio, television and the internet to teach employees more about the state council crackdown notice and other laws and regulations, apart from the food safety law, related to instructions from the provincial and municipal quality and technical supervision bureaus. other actions included putting up warning posters on food safety in production and warehousing and held meetings to publicize the food safety laws and regulations, which helped improve employee quality and safety awareness.
on may 17, 2011, xie xuerui, president and general manager of haohua honghe, signed a “food production quality and safety” contract with the zigong quality and technical supervision bureau and made a promise to society on qualified, safe food additives. his company also improved its food additives supervision and management in the following three ways: first, better documentation of the food additive production process, with key production control points better defined to ensure stricter controls; second, making a point of providing professional training for employees in laws and regulations and operations and asking operators and other staff to get a regular check-up at the city’s disease control center to ensure proper physical conditioning; third, spending more than two million yuan in recent years improving hardware, the production process, and special warehouses so that they meet state food-additive production regulations. according to xie’s instruction on rebuilding the company, the production hardware and facilities and the management need to be in accordance with international levels of 2011.
at the beginning of 2011, the zigong quality and technical supervision bureau designated the company a “demonstration enterprise for the city of zigong in the standardized of food additive production”. the company strives to constantly improve its quality and safety management in production and ensure complete control of the entire process, from the purchase of raw materials to entering the factory the the process control, factory-exit inspection, and storage and on to sales so that the products meet market and customer demands.
the company also adheres to the five following rules: 1) produce the three types of food additives in strict compliance with the licensing. 2) purchase raw and auxiliary materials and manage the suppliers in strict accordance with company requirements and quality standards. 3) control the production process in strict accordance with professional food additive production rules. 4) carry out factory-exit inspections in strict accordance with national standards; the company laboratory is recognized by the state and includes a special warehouse for food additive products under standard management. 5) sell the products only under the recognized name, maintain a complete sale and delivery record, and implement the control procedures for defective products, the review and disposition rules for the defective products, and the recall system for defective products.
meanwhile, the company has stated that the label and logo on the product package must comply with national food safety standards.
during the renovation activities and food quality and safety standardization process, the quality management department cooperated with each unit to tighten controls on the production process, which pushed the continued improvements of production and management and ensured product quality and safety.
